Trainees

Lillian Lai, MD

Lillian is currently a Health Services Research Fellow, funded by NCI T32, at the University of Michigan. She is getting a Masters in Health and Health Care Research through the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. Lillian attended UCLA for her undergraduate degree and UCSF for medical school.

When not learning about health policy, sociocultural determinants of health, and an array of qualitative and quantitative methods, you can find Lillian tending to plants and cheering on her favorite basketball teams.

Emily Lawton, PhD Candidate, MPP

Emily is currently a PhD student at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Health Services Organization & Policy with a concentration in Economics. She attended Connecticut College for her undergraduate degree and the University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy for her Master's degree.

Taylor Thrasher, PhD Candidate, MA

Xianshi Yu, PhD, MPhil

Xianshi Yu is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Dept. of Statistics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2018. Her research interest lies in statistical learning problems motivated various from real applications. Her research areas include Signal Processing and Network Data Analysis, and her current focus is on analyzing Hypergraph Data. Xianshi also conducts applied research concerning a variety of topics in healthcare.

Nicholas Moloci, PhD Candidate, MPH

Nicholas is a healthcare researcher with several publications and an interest in health policy, health economics, program and policy evaluation, epidemiology, implementation science, and quality improvement. He previously worked with Dr. Hollingsworth and was the Statistician Lead within the Dow Health Services Research Division at the University of Michigan. He is the former President of the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Statistical Association and a current mentor with the New York Academy of Sciences.

Nicholas is a graduate of the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and Columbia University in the City of New York. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Shivani Bakre

Shivani was a Research Associate for the Dow Division of Health Services Research in the Department of Urology under Dr. John Hollingsworth from 2018 to 2020. She is currently pursuing her MHS in Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
