About Us

Mission Statement

The Hollingsworth lab is dedicated to investigating and improving the quality and cost of care for patients with renal and urological disease. Through our team’s work, we seek to inform clinician leaders in Urology and Nephrology, health policy makers, and health services researchers, providing them with actionable insights on care redesign.

Research Areas of Interest

The Hollingsworth lab has two areas of research focus: 1) understanding the role of specialist physicians in value-based payment reforms and 2) reducing unwarranted practice variation in the care of patients with urinary stone disease. Our current grant-funded projects include investigations on the effects of Medicare ACOs on surgical care delivery; program evaluations of the Comprehensive ESRD Care Model and the recent overhaul to the Shared Savings Program known as “Pathways to Success;” and comparative effectiveness studies, examining different preventive pharmacological therapy agents for kidney stones. For a full description of these projects and related publications, please view Research and Publications.
